Use your SmartButton temperature data logger in wet and demanding environments with this reusable protective capsule. Its IP68-rated enclosure protects the logger from surrounding liquids, solvents, and pressure, expanding your options for temperature monitoring in beverage production, scientific research, and submerged applications.
The capsule features a durable polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) housing, a screw-in closure, and a silicone O-ring seal. A cable-clamping top allows you to secure it at a consistent monitoring position, including at different depths within a liquid.
The manufacturer tested the capsule at pressure equivalent to 30.5 metres (100 feet) of water depth for 24 hours, with no leakage. This protection depends on correct assembly and sealing. Chemical compatibility and suitability for your specific temperature, pressure, and exposure duration must also be considered.
Configure your SmartButton using TrendReader for SmartButton before placing it inside the capsule. Assemble and seal the enclosure according to the installation instructions, then secure it in your monitoring location. After monitoring, remove the SmartButton and connect it to your SmartButton interface to download and review the recorded temperature data. The capsule can be reused for subsequent monitoring sessions.
The protective capsule does not extend the SmartButton’s temperature measurement range of −40°C to +85°C. Always keep the complete assembly within the logger’s operating limits. The enclosure also slows the logger’s response to temperature changes. Consider this when monitoring rapid heating, cooling, or short process cycles where response time affects the usefulness of your measurements.
